Professional vs. Architect version

I have Visio Standard which I know is wrong. I want to create some ERD
diagrams so I need the database modeling template however, I don't know if I
need the Enterprise Architect for forward engineering. I won't need reverse
engineering because the database hasn't been created yet.

I might need to generate SQL code but can't you do that in Access query
builder? I will generate a ERD but I would also like to generate some Use
Case scenarios. Can the Professional version handle that?

My system is Windows XP Profession 2002. I don't know if I have .Net or not.

Here is the comparison of Visio editions:

Visio 2007:

Visio 2003:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/visio/FX102144891033.aspx

Hope this will help you to formulate your needs a bit better and
choose the edition wich is right for you ;)

Kind regards, Nikolay.

Visio Professional provides reverse engineering functionality. You will
need Enterprise Architect for forward engineering.
