Professional vs Standard Differences?

I am new to Project, currently using a downloaded trial version of Standard,
but plan to purchase Professional. The MS Project website's "decide which
version is right for you tool" lists the main difference as individual vs.
shared projects for the two versions.

Is there any more features in Professional that would warrant its purchase
over Standard?

FYI - In case it may help anyone with their response to my question, I am an
architect (the original architects, not a software designer - a building
designer) and use it for scheduling project design and construction, and as
of yet have not used the resource features. We mainly use the Gantt Charts,
for staying on schedule, and to be able to keep the owner informed of time
issues with design and how delays will impact overall schedule.

Thanks.

No. The only differences between the two require a full Project Server
installation. If you just want to use Project as a single user, then
buy Standard. Buying Professional without the server is a waste of
money.

Thanks Sarah,

The sales staff at Microsoft mentioned additional features, however did not
mention that the full server install was needed to use them, although the
shared projects would logically need to be server based. I guess I should
have known.

They did say that the pro version could be used as stand alone, but like you
said sounds like a waste of $400.00 for my intentions.

Thanks again for your answer.

Pro can be used standalone, but all the features that kame it different from
Standard are greyed out without a connection to a Server environment so the
