I have Office Standard 2003 which came preinstalled as trial on Gateway
834GM Media Center 2005 PC. I purchased the Retail Standard Version and put
in the key when prompted. That always goes fine. I keep getting an Event
ID 63 in Event Manager that states: "A provider, OffProv11, has been
registered in the WMI namespace. Root\MSAPPS11, to use the Local System
account. This account is privileged and the provider may cause a security
violation if it does not correctly impersonate user requests". How do I fix
this?
I also have a problem when closing down the PC. None of the 4 Administrator
accounts close properly. They always state that userenv was still using the
registry and the memory has not been freed. I know this is coming from the
Office applications because when I uninstall Office, all the user profiles
reconcile properly. I installed a Microsoft application that reconciles the
profile and forces the apps to close properly (profile reconciler or
something--can't remember name since it was before I restored Windows to
factory settings due to problems with Office and other applications).
Anyway, when I had that app installed it always said that there was one of
the svchost files still using the registry.
I think that it has something to do with the fact that I use a 56k dial up
modem to connect to the Internet thru local ISP. I already tried asking
them how to setup Outlook, but they said to contact Microsoft.
I have a built in LAN port that I am not using yet. Eventually I am going
to setup a small home network. The icon says that the Local Area Connection
cable is unplugged--which is true because I don't have a cable to plug in
yet!
How do I get rid of the Event ID 63 and get my profiles to reconcile
properly when logging off? I have had 3 PC's now and all have had this
problem. Eventually it seems like I always end up reinstalling the OS due
to problems related to profiles not reconciling properly.
Please help! Sorry for run on post!
I also have a FAT32 directory on the drive that was setup by Gateway as a
restore partition--when I restore PC, the OS and Programs are installed from
there. I have Front Page 2003 that I would like to install (I had it
installed before I reinstalled XP) but I don't want to do that until I get
the profile problem fixed. There must be a way to fix this without using
the Profile reconciler program that just forces all files to close.
