"Program Error"

I'm probably not in the right area here, but am unable to
find any topics related to "program error."

Word 2000 has worked great for 2 years. Today, I try to
open it and get:

Progam Error
WINWORD.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
windows. You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created. OK

I tried repair/reinstall - no change. All other programs
work fine.
The only thing new on my computer is WinFax PRO.
Installed yesterday, tested with a word attachment ...
which worked fine. (also installed windows 2000 updates 2
days ago.)
HELP!!
