Programs Lost - Reinstall

H

Help Wanted

I have the following certified disks; some installed on an older laptop I now
use as a desktop:

Windows: 95; 95 & Plus; 97; 98 upgrade; ME; XP upgrade. (Purchased this
computer with ME, Small Business Financial Manager, Office 97 installed;
older computers previously cleaned and discarded; current op. system is XP.)
Office: 97 (Professional edition); 97 (Small Business edition); 2000
(Small Business - Disks 1 & 2)
Word: 97

I've lost use of Programs I used to access through Toolbar Shortcuts,
including Publisher, Access, Kodak Imaging, Small Biz Fin'l Mngr, etc.

Have attempted to reinstall Publisher recently from disk. No luck.
"SHELL.DLL missing" error. Would like most of the programs back. Plenty of
disk space and sufficient speed.

Search of hard drive yields Temp Folder and some other files, but in
Publisher, .exe doesn't do anything. Using MSFT Update on the web
identifies only 2000 Office programs. (Btw, have good download speed through
Clearwire.)

How can I fix? I don't mind using older versions of some programs.

Thanks in advance!!

I'm not sure what you are trying to do and what's installed on that system.
Which version of Office are your running on that computer?

Help Wanted

Thanks for the swift response! I'm running Office 2000 now, but did not want
to lose features of prior programs, which I did somewhere along the way....
I like to recapture/ reinstall these.

Do you have the programs or is it that Office toolbar that's missing? You're
going to have to ask your questions about Kodak Imaging elsewhere - that's
not a Microsoft program. I'm unfamiliar with the Financial Manager - I
assume that's not a Microsoft program either?

Both the programs and toolbar are now missing. Small Business Financial
Manager is/ was an MSFT program. Kodak Imaging came bundled with other MSFT
programs in a suite during one of the years under question. Thank you, JoAnn.

2000 Small Business does not have Publisher. As for Accent put in the 2000 SBE and
use Custom install and select only Access to install. The Toolbar on the 2000 SBE is
also on Disk 1 and you need to select that also to install

If you dont have origonal disks or downloaded set up files you are SOL
Probably the only other source of old disks/programs is Ebay or similar

Start with the oldest versions first. Do a custom installation, choosing the
options you want. Do not install as an upgrade - put it in a new location.

Kodak Imaging came "bundled" with your original Windows operating

etc.

Have attempted to reinstall Publisher recently from disk. No luck.
"SHELL.DLL missing" error. Would like most of the programs back.
Plenty
of
disk space and sufficient speed.

Search of hard drive yields Temp Folder and some other files, but in
Publisher, .exe doesn't do anything. Using MSFT Update on the web
identifies only 2000 Office programs. (Btw, have good download
speed
through
Clearwire.)

How can I fix? I don't mind using older versions of some programs.

Thanks in advance!!
