Progress Lines

Hi,
could you please assist. I have to provide an update of a consolidated
project containing 12 off sub projects. The best way to visualise any
slippage graphically was to use the progress line. Unfortunately a number of
tasks with a 100% completion are indicated as being behind schedule. I have
tried all format settings in progress lines form to no effect. Any ideas what
could be causing this ?

Personally I recommend forgetting all about progress lines. Best practice
for tracking is to firstly save a baseline (Tools, Tracking, Set Baseline).
Secondly update tasks to accurately reflect what actually happened. So, set
the Actual Start date, then enter actual duration and remaining duration
(0=complete) or enter Actual Work and remaining work if you have resources
assigned. There shouldn't be any incomplete work in the past or completed
work in the future. A progress line would therefore be on the status date.

View the Tracking Gantt view to see where you are now compared to where you
were.

Thank you for your advice. I will forward this information to the planners. I
agree with your comments fully, unfortunately I have been asked to present to
the update meeting showing the progress line in gantt chart. As previously
mentioned I have tried interogating a particular file to find the issue
creating this false indication. A baseline has been set and updates taken by
actuals. I feel frustrated at present and any ideas would be gratefully
recieved, I do not want this to beat me.
Once again thanks for your assistance.

Thank you for your advice, I will forward this information to the project
planners. Unfortunately I have been requested to present the gannt showing
the progres line during update meetings. The particular file I have problems
with has already had a baseline set and actuals added as an update procedure.
I feel quite frustrated that I cannot understand why this has happend with
100% complete tasks. Even undertanding why this has happend will help, even
if it cannot be rectified. Any help would be gratefully recieved.
Once again I would like to thakyou for your assistance.
Best Regards.

Hi Rod, apologies. I have found the problem, it was a zero duration that
caused the blip. Working O.K now.
Once again thanks for your help Best Regards
Ken
