Project 2002 client compatibility with Proj Serv 2003

Does anyone have any experience using the desktop Project 2003 version with Project Server 2003 - is it possible and if so are there any pitfalls?

(We don't want to go this route but I want to be able to justify why not)

Thanks Karl, this answers the question, Proj Prof 2002 can connect with full functionality...

would be good to hear if anyone has actually done this though e.g. will we hit problems if some users access the same plan with 2002 and 2003... etc.

Hi Karl
We did do this for a little while when we changed to
project server 2003 but hadn't yet updated the clients.
The majority of people could connect, but we had so many
little 'funnies' - some people found they didn't have the
full functionality, some actuals from timesheets didn't
quite make it into the plans etc. Also, once we migrated
the clients to MSP 2003 we had all sorts of problems when
someone opened a plan in 2003 then someone else tried with
2002. In my opinion it would have been a lot smoother to
do the whole lot together.
