T

Terry G

I wish to add an additional column for hours. I wish it to claculate like the
Works column but to operate seperatley

Hi,

You can insert a duration custom field (duration1-10) and put a formula in
(Tools, customize, fields).
You could also use a number field or a text field but duration will came
with the suffix d or h automatically.
Hope this helps

Thanks Jan for your reply, I have entered a number field but I do not
understand how to enter the formual's, I have tried Help to no avail. What I
am trtying to do is the hours from one division from another. Unfortunately I
aqm using an inherited program and it has not been recoursed so to track we
are just entering hours.

Jan,

I'm sorry mate I have tried all that what I don't understand is how to make
the column act in the same manner as the work column, that is after I have
entered hours in to each line item I want them calculated into the headers
and subheaders giving me a total at the main header.

Hi Terry,

It's likely that Jan is offline right now. I've been reading the posts
between you and Jan and I have to say, I'm not sure what you are trying
to accomplish.

Based upon your last post below, it sounds as if you want to be able to
manually enter data into one of the custom fields and then have the
custom field total the manual entries at summary task level? If, so,
that cannot be done directly.

Custom fields either allow manual entry OR have formulas, not both. You
could accomplish what I *think* you are looking for with two custom
fields. Add a custom number field (Number1 for example) and use that
field to capture the manual data you want to add. Then add a second
number field (Number2). In the Customize fields dialog box, under
Custom attributes, select formula and enter the following:

[Number1]

This will show the data from the Number1 field. Then to get the summary
tasks to sum the data from the subtasks, in the Customize Fields dialog
box under "Calculation for task and group summary rows" choose Rollup:
Sum

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thanyou Julie,

Yes you understood what I wanted. I will try what you have suggested and I
will let you know if I can work it. I'm sorry if I was not clear in my query
I will try harder next time. Again thank you for time and I appreciate yours
and Jan's advice.
