Project 2003 - assigning resources electronically

Does Project 2003 Standard allow you to email assigned tasks to resources
when you're not using the server and/or web access features? If each user has
a license and has MS Project installed on their computer as well as Outlook,
will the TeamAssign feature work? Is there any problem if you're using an
older version of Outlook? Are there any specific requirements for this to
work??

There is nothing built into standard that allows you to do this. The only
solution I can think of (besides buying Project Pro, Server, and PWA) is to
add a custom field to the resource sheet containing the resources email.
Then you could probably write a macro that would email the resource about
their assignments. I haven't tried this but I imagine it could be done.
