Project 2003 Client - date discrepancy

Sean

I have one user who, when they open up project files, gets different
dates in the Start and Finish columns than everyone else. We
discovered this when one project plan was off by 5 months. When the PM
opens the project, the dates are correct. The dates are also correct
when I open it. But when this particular user opens it, the Start and
Finish columns have the wrong data!

I checked to see if anything in the Tools > Options menu might help,
but everything was the same as the default and the same as mine. This
isn't a power user, so I doubt anything fancy has been done to the
project. The odd thing is all the other columns are correct -- %
complete, actual work, remaining work, etc. Only the dates have
changed.

Since the problem seems to be with the client (or perhaps client
machine?), what settings or issues might cause this error? Or does
this sound like a corrupt client that needs to be reinstalled?

Check the client service pack first to make sure you are all on the same SP
number. Different SP's can cause strange scheduling behaviors in the
client.

Thanks for the tip Jonathan. My user has SP2 installed with the same
version that I have.

Hmm, in that case, I am not sure what the exact cause might be. The server
is also on SP2 I am assuming.

Next thing I would try would be to log off the machine completely and then
have yourself log on to create your own profile on that machine. Then see
if you are getting the same weird behavious when you open up the plan on
that machine. This would give more clues as to where the issue is. (i.e.
client, profile or user account)

For some reason, Google says this thread has 4 messages, but I only
see 3. Jonathan, if you have posted, could you please repost?
