Project 2003 Install does not

I have MS Project 2002 installed under WinXP.
When I try to install 2003 I get a error window telling me I cannot install 2003 over an existing 2003 and I must first uninstall it from Control Panel, Add/Remove applet. There is no entry for Project 2003 however, so there is nothing to uninstall. I think I had
How do I force the installation of 2003 either as a replacement for 2002 or leaving the 2002 on the machine.
