Unable to Install MS project 2003.

I am working on an end-user's laptop. 1) MS Project 2003 was installed and
worked fine. 2) About 6 months the end-user began to experience some issues
with MS Proj 2003 and decided to uninstall/Reinstall. not sure what happened
back then... but now..... 3) The end-user attempts to install MS 2003 and
gets this error:

Project Professional 2003 cannot be installed when another instance of
Project Professional 2003 is already present. To install this copy of
Project Projessional 2003, first remove the previous instance of Project
Professional 2003 using Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel.

Problem: The software is not listed under Add/Remove Programs
Using "System Restore" will not be helpful in this case

Any ideas?

Hi,

Try searching for all copies of the Global.Mpt file and renaming or deleting
them if you didn't save any customisation. Then try re-installing.

If that doesn't work, take a backup of the registry then delete all registry
entries for Microsoft Project and try again.

Hello Rod, I have a similar problem, I have never had MS Project on my
laptop and yet I still get the same 'previous instance' message . I have done
both of your suggestions ( global.mpt) and regeditbut still cannor install.
Help please

I'm sorry the KB article didn't help. I'm afraid I'm out of suggestions
other than contacting Microsoft Support for further guidance.
