Office Project Professional 2007 Error During Install

L

Leo

Hi,

I am trying to install Office Project Professional 2007 (from my MSDN Action
Pack subscription) on my Vista machine which already has Office Enterprise
2007 installed on it.

Every time I try and install Project I get an error. I insert the disk, run
the project setup file, enter my key, accept the EULA and then it gets to the
"Installing Microsoft Project Profesional 2007" screen. The progress bar
starts to fill and then I get the error screen displaying:

"Microsoft Office Project Professional encountered an error during setup"

This happens every time I try and install it. There is no option to
uninstall Project from add/remove programs and I have looked through the
registry and could not find any Project keys. I have also used a registry
cleaner and the windows install cleanup tool to no avail.

Does anyone know why this might be happening? I really need to get Project
installed, thanks in advance!

Hello Leo,

In a quick google search, think I may have found the root of the problem or
at least a possible avenue of discovery. The action packs may have been an
*upgrade* version of MS Project -- you needed a previous version of Project,
not Office as noted in the message.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie,

Thanks for the reply. No it's not that, I have both the upgrade and the
complete install disks (both were provided in separate Action Packs). I have
tried to install Project from both disks - with the upgrade one I had to use
my project 2003 disk as was mentioned in that Google Groups thread, and with
the standalone one I did not. Both got to the same point - the error occurs
during the actual install as mentioned in my first post.

Does anyone else have any idea as to what could be causing this? Is there
some kind of install error log stored anywhere I can have a look at?

Thanks, Leo

Hello Leo,

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. It sounds as though it may be a
time to talk to any technical support you may have through the

We cannot see the message you are responding to. Please list
details about what specific error you are seeing. What version of
Project 2007 (trial? retail?) what operating system you are using.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
