Project 2003, layering projects

I am testing Project 2003. I have tried going to link projects, but my
projects don't have id project numbers? Am I not permitted, because it is a
trial? If not, how can I create project id numbers?

Can I layer calendars or charts accross projects, to display my overall
work, tasks, and deadlines? If so, how?
