Project 2007 dependent on Office 2007?

Kevin

Hi,

I am investigating updating Project Pro 2003 to Project Pro 2007. I see that
some of the new features include integration with Excel and Visio.

Does anyone know if there is a dependency on Office 2007 for these new
features to work, I am trying to decide if there are any benefits to
upgrading Project now or should I wait until Office 2007 has been implemented
in my my environment?

Any links to information concerning general dependencies for this this
application would also be appreciated.

Thanks
Kevin

I have been using P2007 with Excel2003 without any problems.
However, if you want to use Visio as part of the Visual Reports, that must
be Visio2007.

Frankly, I don't see any differences between Project 2007 and 2003 other
than I have seen more bugs in 2007; but they have (knock on wood)
disappared after SP-2. Far as I can tell there is no required
dependancy on other Office 2007 components. The Visual Reports
functionality (which links to Excel and Visio) is nothing special far as
I can tell; perhaps it depends on user's building their own. I haven't
nor am likely to do much building.

I see no compelling reason to upgrade. The only reason I upgraded was
that a few add-ins that I use said the req'd Project 2007.
