Project 2007 locks Project 2003

Today I installed Project 2007. I selected the installation option to held
the older version available, because I will need Project 2003 due to the
company environment.

After playing some minutes with it, I was asked to update a file. I closed
the new version and opend the file with Project 2003. All modifications could
be done without problems. But after one hour of update work I was not able to
save the file. An error message explained, that there are memory problems. So
good, so bad - I lost my changes and started the PC again. I made a second
test: Trying to save a completely new file with only two tasks is also not
possible in Project 2003.

What went is here wrong?

Additional information:

The exact error message is:

"An unexpected error occurred during command execution.
Try the following:
- Verify that all argument names and values are correct and are of the
correct type
- You may have run out of memory. To free up available memory, close
programs, projects, or windows that you aren’t using."

I observed the problem in Project 2002, but it is also reported for Project
2003:

I, too am getting this problem. In 2007 I installed the trial version of 2007
to evaluate whether we needed to upgrade to 2007 or keep using Project 2002.
I only ran it a few times, then decided to retain 2002. A few days ago I
accidentally launched 2007, then shut it down. Now, whenever I go to save any
file in Project 2002 I get this error. This even happens with brand new
project files, not just previously-created ones.
