Project 2007 PWA custom field interface options

I have a very long list (40k records) in a lookup table, accessible by a
custom field.

Does anyone know if there are other user interface options for getting at
those values? They show up in a really long drop down list, which is less
than desirable given its length.

Are there any work-arounds for this? Ideally it would be an auto-complete
or some kind of pop-up to search.
