Project cannot open file / Host Header?

I did a new installation, everything standard with one exception:
When I created the Project Web Access Site I choosed 'Use Project Web Access
Path as host header' and as 'Project Web Access path' http://epm.adomain.com.
Accessing the PWA via http://epm.anydomain.com works fine, but:

1)
When I try to create a project within PWA Prj Pro fires up but ends up with
the error "Project cannot open the file" and subsequent "Project cannot
recnogize this file format".

2) When I create a project within Prj Pro I can save it to the server (the
credentials refer to the path http://epm.anydomain.com ). Publish without
creating a workspace works as well. However, when trying to edit this project
in the PWA Project Server Prj Pro fires up and ends with the same error as
under 1)

What I am missing?

what suffix was used for provisioning PWA

ie http://epm.adomain.com/suffix

try using this instead of the root url.

Well, makes sense.

However, if you want to route a domain directly to to pwa folder (and the
internal links should all remain working), how would you set up this?
