Project Client Connectivity

Waldis

Hi,

I installed and configured Project server 2007 trial on the Windows 2008
server, created a web app on one of the domains available, everything is fine
so far. Now, when I try to connect through a Project 2007 client, it gives me
a dialog box that says username/pasword is not correct. I tried a lot of
things, one of them was updating everything to SP2, but still no avail. I can
log in through the browser with no problem, but not through the client.

The server is located in another state (dedicated server hosted by a hosting
company), so I'm using domain name header to access Project server 2007.

I installed the server by using four-part videos from MS website that I
finally stumbled upon after fighting this thing for three days. It just
amazes me that there is almost no instructions available (or they are really
hidden) on how to install Project server 2007. I kept finding the same
article about "how to install project server 2007 on Windows server 2008"
(http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc531331.aspx) over and over,
which is a total waste of the server space it's been put on...

Please, if anybody has any pointers of what I could be missing to get this
darn thing (getting frustrated already) going, I'd appriciate it very much.

Thank you,

Waldis

Everything is installed on one server: Win Server Standard 2008, SQL Server
2005.

I used these videos to reinstall the Project Server 2007 (initially I tried
to do that on my own because of a lack of instructions, and all I got was
SharePoit website with a Project template, so I uninstalled it and deleted
databases that were created by it and reinstalled by watching videos)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...59-85e1-41e5-b209-4d96a114405f&displaylang=en

I installed Project Server 2007 and used the server name for the control
center (http://ServerName:12345/), the server itself is a part of a hosting
companies domain controller; the server runs it's own DNS; to get it accessed
through the internet I created the web app on an existing IIS website
(http://website.com/) and then created a PWA instance, and I can connect to
it through browser using http://website.com/pwa/. When it connects it throws
out a separate login dialog box, and when I enter the username I used to
install the whole deal and its password I get in fine, just not when I try to
connect through Project Professional 2007. I'm using trial versions of both,
Server and Client. Initially I downloaded Server SP1 and Client SP2, and I
have updated the server to SP2 (first SharePoint SP2, then Projec Server SP2,
and then went through the SharePoint config wizard)

The server itself is used for website hosting, and now we are trying to use
it for company's project management needs.

Please let me know if any other info is needed, I'll try to update as I
think of anything else.

Thanks,

Waldis
