First, we have to ask what patch level your system is at? There have been
many fixes associated with the local cache system that have greatly reduced
the incident of this problem. You should patch your Project Server system to
SP2 + April CU, and patch your Project Client to SP1+April CU. Note that we
are not recommending that administrators apply SP2 for the Project Client at
this time, however your Project Mangers who do not perform admin duties on
the system should be at SP2.

Hi Gary,

Thank you very much for your reply. My Project Server 2007 is having SP2
applied on that. But my Project Professional 2007 is not having any patch or
Service Pack applied. Do you recommend me to apply the SP1 on my MPP?

P.S.: My projects start checking in after I removed cache from my local
machine. Is that the right solution of this problem? Or is there any
permanent solution exists?

Kind Regards,
Nirav Patel

You should install SP2 on your MPP machine. There have been some local cache issues, and most of them have been fixed in SP2.

Nirav:

Yes, removing the cache files causes a rebuild and will solve the problem
temporarily. If you are a Project Server administrator, then follow my
patching advice from the previous post. Do not apply SP2 to the client until
the August CU comes out unless Microsoft releases a fix sooner. Apply to
SP2 to all clients where users are not Project Server administrators.

Gary,

I am also facing the same issue as Nirav. One of the Projet Manager's "Save"
jobs are failing in Project Queue.

We have Project Server 2007 with SP2 and April CU. The client is also SP2
with April CU.

What is the reason not to apply SP2 on client for Admin? What issue is still
open which MSFT is planing to fix in Augusut CU?
