Project Files stored in Sharepoint

Can Project .mpp files be stored in sharepoint?

We have a document library where we have stored several .mpp project files.
When we try to access these files we get an error saying

"Project does not support resource pooling on a web server"

Has anyone ever seen this before?

I think that your mpp is using shared resources. (See Tools > Resource
Sharing > Share Resources).

Reid,

Thanks for your reply. I am not a Project guy (SharePoint is my game) so I
am not sure what "Share Resources" does.

(I am the SharePoint Portal admin and a user cannot access some .mpp files
stored in a SharePoint doc lib. So it is my problem because SharePoint does
not work)

In the doc lib there is a .mpp file that does not have the Shared Resources
and I can access that file just fine. But if I try to "turn on???" shared
resources I get the same error

"Project does not support resource pooling on a web server".

Does this sound like some type of functionality that Project and SharePoint
together don't support???

Thanks again

If you want the Shared Resources functionality to work, the user must
download the project to a local or network drive and then enable resource
sharing.

You could get away from all this hassle if your organization were to upgrade
to Project Server.

Thanks for the input. (funny we were just talking about installing Project
Server yesterday :) If that is what we need to do, then I will pass that
along to the powers that be in our organization.)

Thanks
