Project=hold without tasks appearing in task list

Taj

I have placed a project on hold but the tasks are still appearing in the
recourse task list.

How do I place the project on hold to stop tasks appearing in resource list?

I have gone into project information and set the project to hold which does
not seem to work.

Thanks,

Hi Taj,

This will not be enough. Timesheets for the resources will show the
incomplete & tasks running on current date. To do that you may need to
set the end date with an early date and mark it as completed. The best
would be divide the task into two, mark the early as completed to 100%
and set the later task to start on an expected date or later date and
do not assign resources until you know that its time for starting it.

hope this helps..

Thanks,
Ravi.

Hi Ravi,

Thank you that was helpful.

What is the best way to deal with a task that has been completed 50%?

I am assuming I would assign that task as 100% completed, create another
task for the 50%, and not assign a resource to it.

Thanks

You could also assign resources with "Booking Type" set as "Proposed",
which would show their utilization in appropriate views, but eliminate
timesheets until such time as you re-started the project. Then, you would
turn them to "Committed", and re-publish all assignments(PS 2003) to get
timesheets generated again.

You would also want to rmemeber to keep moving the unfinished work out
every time period, so as to properly forecast the downstream work to get the
project going again.

FWIW ...
