Project Hours and PWA hours not synched

Sean

For some time, we have had this problem where the hours stored in the
projects are off and do not come close to the hours actually entered
in PWA. This seems to be a large problem for one department we have.
I'm looking into possible user/training issues, but it seems too
widespread to be that. We're finding hours logged in projects that
users never entered in PWA. Does this sound like user error? A bad
template? Something else? Any feedback is appreciated.

I would be VERY suspicious that some of your PM's are manually entering
progress in their Microsoft Project plans, but are not republishing the
assignments to "push" the work to each user's timesheet in PWA. If they
manually enter progress in the Microsoft Project plan, they must click
Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments, select the "Overwrite actual
work entered by resources" option, and then click OK. Failing to do this
will cause the numbers to get "out of sync" between the Microsoft Project
plan and PWA. Just one thought as to a probable cause. Now, see if you can
actually get anyone to admit to doing this! :) Hope this helps.
