Project in PWA Discrepancy

R

Rhonda H

When I look at my project plan in PWA it reflects the
correct and latest information; however, when I open the
project in MS Project it does not match what I see in
PWA.

The correct project plan is the one I see when looking in
PWA. Does anyone know why this happening, and how do I
get the project to open correctly in MS Project?

Thanks,
Rhonda H.

Rhonda:

Typically we hear people complain that PWA doesn't show the latest, not
Project, which is the more likely scenario. In order for PWA to display
anything, it has to be in a project plan. Therefore, I'm wondering if
perhaps a duplicate project has been created. Do you have more than one
listing showing for the project in the Project Center?

Now I need to ask exactly what data is out-of-synch? For instance, if an
update to tasks crashed in the middle, it's possible for actual work values
to show in PWA while not being fully posted to the Project.

Gary,

The data that is out of synch is task data. Basically,
tasks were added and deleted at the end of the plan. We
did have a power failure when the Project Manager was
making changes. But I don't think this contributed to the
problem; however, I can't be sure.

So, you're saying that tasks show up in web access that are no longer in the
project plan? Do they show up in the drill down views you can reach from the
project center? Do they show up in view resource assignments when selected
from the Resource Center? I need you to give me as much detail as you can in
order to make a suggestion on how to correct it.

Gary,

The tasks show in PWA but not when the project is opened
in MS Project. These are recurring tasks that were added
to the end of the project plan. To date resources have
not been assigned.

Another fact that may have something to do with this.
When opening the project it is very slow and after a bit
of time an error message appears saying "cannot calculate
task 7924 has a successor back to itself creating a
circular dependany" (words not exact). The project
opens but the task that where added to the bottom of the
plan do not appear.

From what I can tell once it hits the error on the
recurring task then the tasks below do not show.

Thanks for you help.

Thanks for you help.

Unfortunately, This is easier said than done. It can't
be fixed because the remaining task don't appear. It
seems we have to redo this plan.

Again thanks,
Rhonda
