Some projects, which i am not a member of, appear in my projects center view.
On the other hand, there are projects which I am a team member of but cannot see them in my tasks list (timesheet).

Why does that happen? What's happening? How do I solve this problem?

Thanks.

It depends on how your administrator set you up. You are seeing other
projects because probably you are in a group that has view rights for the
project, also if you do not see your project you are not in the correct
group. If you are placed into the project by the project manager as a
resource you will automatically get view rights. Check with the
administrator of Project Web Access.

Hi I am managing the project server therefore I have administrative rights,

Here's the setup: I made the Team Members and Project Managers members of the "My Tasks" and "My Projects" categories then I set the default security template for each group member.

Using the default Adminstrator account, I tried to configure my windows account to be a team member so that I know what the other team members are supposed to see. And this is what I'm experiencing now. Some projects appear in my projects view, when I am not even a part of the project team. While there are some projects, i am a member of, are missing in my tasks (but i can see the project in the project view then I changed to resource assignments view, and my name was there, but the tasks did not appear in my tasks/timesheet)

Apply your View my tasks page (timesheet) and look at the sidepane on the
left. Do you have the "Current tasks" option selected? If so, this would
explain why you cannot see the tasks in some projects in which you have
assignments. If you click the "All tasks" option, you should see your
missing tasks. Hope this helps.

I would not use administrator log on to view team member views, it is
difficult to setup as administrator will have more default permisions. Set
up a new user such as test user and place that user in the team member. On
a day to day basis assign your self a user account and only use the admin
account for tweaking.

Go to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2036 and download the
Administrators guide, reset your groups to defaults found in the guide.
Manage your users by the groups and I would leave groups and cat's alone at
the moment. Do not use the templates for individual permissions it can get
confusing, set up a group and from the group setup area assign that user to
the group.

Look at project views and project centre views and make sure they are set
up, change them to defaults according to the guide.

PS the project centre views and project views are in catagories

The only time bottom posting is acceptable, in my view, is when the writer
deletes most of the post so only a tiny bit appears. In my view, using
Outlook Express as a newsreader, top posting is always best as I can see the
response straight away without the "chore" of having to scroll through every
else's responses. It's a matter of taste not a rule :)

Well put Mike. I can see your point and agree it is a matter of taste, my
preference for it is because you keep a better flow through the argument,
physically and chronologically. If the thread gets to long it does end up
needing some trimming. Which ever way you do it somebody will pull you up

Abi,

Did you check that all plans have been completely published?

A plan can be saved to the server, without the assignments having been
published - and hence appearing in your timesheet.
It is also possible to publish only a part of the plan - again so
assignments won't appear in Tasks page.

BTW: does anyone know how to check who the manager of an assignment is
(going to be) in MSPro, before the plan is published to the server? Or
is it only available via PWA once it has been...

Matt --

Project Server sets the manager of the project and the manager of each task
as the user who initially publishes the task assignments in the project.
Hope this helps.

People who use Outlook Express are generally top posters. People who use
other news readers tend to be bottom posters. Inasmuch as OE is nearly
ubiquitous, most of the people who you converse with, who aren't techie
newsgroup hounds from the wayback years, will tend to be more pleased with
your top-post replies.
