Project Owners and users

R

Robert

Hello,
When we want to change the Owner of a project, who are the users who are
listed in the "Owner" pick list of PWA Edit Project Properties page?
I believed that they were Project Managers and Administrators, but there are
also several Team Members and Teams Leads.
Thanks for your help.

Robert

Thanks Chak,
I make sure that some Team Members, with the standard My Tasks category,
without the "Save Project to Project Server" permission, are listed in the
Owner pick list! In fact all the resources are there, excepted the resources
without any logon.
Any idea? Did I miss something?

Robert.

Users with "Save Project to Project Server" permission enabled will
show up in Owner picklist. It's category permission and it appears in
"My Projects" category.

Thanks

I think Chak may be in error. I believe that the Owner pick list shows all
of the users in the Project Server 2007 system. This includes members of
all security Groups. I do now know of any way to restrict the Owner pick
list to only project managers. Hope this helps.

Dale,

Thanks a lot for this rectification!

Hi Dale,

I am in confusion state now :) I was in impression that owner pick
list related to "Project Save" or "Edit Project Properties" permission
in category. It does not make sense, if system displays all the users
including team members in owner dropdown list.

Anyways, I will test this when I have some time.

Thanks again.

There was a particularly nasty but in Project Server 2007 that caused the
Owner pick list to show only those who were Project Server administrators.
The list should show members of the following Groups: Administrators,
Portfolio Managers, and Project Managers, and maybe the Team Leaders (if
Team Leaders use Microsoft Project 2007). To fix the bug, it looks like
Microsoft forces the list to show every member of every security Group. I
tested it this afternoon, and believe it or not, the list shows members of
the Executives group AND the Team Members group as well. So, test all you
like, but I think the list shows everybody, like it or not! :)

This behavior must have changed in one of the updates, because I believe
that at RTM, the list populated with only people who had the Project Save
permission as Chack originally stated. Sounds like bug swapping to me. There
ought to be a law about that.

Gary,

Thanks for solving the mystery. Yes, it might be caused by updates.
These updates are fixing major issues and introducing the small bug? I
hope, they will fix in next update :)
