There surely is a specified maximum file size, but you'll run into
practical limits before reaching this absolute max.
My personal recommendation (personal) is that when it starts taking more
than 2-3 minutes to open/save you've hit the limit. I tend to get
impatient about file size when 30 seconds for open/save is reached.
Another practical limit is when the file gets too big to practically
send via email (2-3 mb).
Another practical limit for multiple users is when others complain they
can't access their part of the project on the shared file on the LAN
because someone else has it...in this case breakdown the file into
pieces to minimise contention.
