Project Pro 2003 client hangs during connection to the server

I have a client who recently removed some spyware from his laptop.

Every since then he cannot connect to the project server via MS Office
Project 2003 Professional - yet he is still able to connect via PWA (Project
Web Access).

I have tried not only his USER ID, but my own as well and neither one of us
can connect to the project server.

I've tried Project 2003 SP1, I've tried removing the client / rebooting /
then re-installing the client, but I'm still left with the same issue.

I've also tried changing his default regional settings to match the server -
NO LUCK! (PSS ID# 328958).

For some reason EVERY TIME we try to open MS Office Project 2003 and connect
to the server - the connection box just sits there (there are NO ERRORS in
the project spooler) and the application times out.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Ivor,

I am having similar problems, but the spyware issue is not part of my
environment. I am currently troubleshooting the Virus Scan software and OS
version, as some users that are on XP have the problem -- while users on 2000
do not.

In our case, we have selected manually connect, and after the logon hangs --
cancel the attempt, then connect again -- this always works for us.

Let me and others know if this helps, and what brand and version of
Anti-Virus you are running (and if you can turn it off to test).

Thanks for the info Bill.

We are currently using Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition - Version 8.

I will certainly check it out and let you know.
