Project Pro 2003 - Connection to PS 2003

Hi,
Does Project Professional 2003 still uses odbc to connect to Project Server
2003 (like PP 2002 did)?
If the answer is "no", How does it connect? Is it save now to access PS via
PP over Internet or we need to open SQL Server port also?
Resources about this topic will be welcome

Apart from all the authentication and ProjectServer security groups etc. the
bottom line is that when saving/opening Project "files" in Professional,
you're using ODBC directly to the SQLServer (via the MSProjectUser
account) - so, yes - port 1433 or whatever is used for your sqlserver has to
be open in the firewall.
That said - the best solution would rather be to use a Terminal Server
access, preferably using certificates or the like and start a
ProjectProfessional session in TS. This will also remove any communication
bottlenecks. There's a LOT of data being moved from client to server and the
other way around...

I have port 1433 open in my firewall and I have cliconfg.exe setting
set for TCP/IP only. I still get a SQL connection Failed. Under the
server dropdown it had my server name. When I change it to the IP
address it works just fine. Can I change the ODBC Default setting to
use my IP not the server name?

You can spoof it by adding an entry into the LMHOSTS file
