Project Pro 2003 to Project Server default SQL Server login

I get a SQL Server error (on more than one client machine) when reading from,
or writing to, a project published in Project Server 2003. The error is
followed by a SQL Login dialog box that lists (local) and the name of the SQL
Server. Using the name of the SQL Server works and I can read and write the
project on the server.

How do I change the configuration so Project looks for the PS SQL Server
first?

I've checked the versions of the MDAC as suggested in the KB for a similar
error and checked the settings in cliconfg.exe on the clients and the server
and they all appear to be fine. Since the problem is occuring with more than
one client, this looks like it could be a server configuration issue.

The SQL Server error itself says it can't make a shared memory pool
connection, but since it's trying the wrong machine that's not surprising.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've hunted through the docs and the
KB without finding anything directly relevant. This is a new implementation
of Project Server, so we're still getting up to speed.

Hi AJS_ISG,

Have you tried using the Edit Site utility tool?

Project Server 2003: EditSite Tool
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=6DC2C83E-54E1-
40A9-9BB8-2DD293226B6F&displaylang=en

Once you install Edit Site tool on the server that has Project Server
2003 installed, verify that the database configuration settings are
correct. If they are not, then make the changes and click Save.
Afterwards, click Test for find the status of your configuration.

Good Luck and let us know what happens

Excellent! The SQL Server entry needed to be changed from (local) to the
server name and the MSProjectServerUser needed to be added to the
MSProjectRole for the database.

Thanks very much for your assistance!

Best regards,

Arthur
