Project Pro 2007 Crashing

Hi gang,

There is one particular Project Server 2007 project file that keeps crashing
MS Project Pro on open (and causes the file to be check-out).

It happens on the same set of PCs. On an other set of PCs we do not have
this problem with this particular file.

We tried a "Save As...", and the copy had the same problem.

We tried saving it locally, then saving it back to server with a different
name; same problem. The user who did this says it is working on his PC now,
but not the others.

We tried detect & repair; no change.

Tried Office Project 2007 hotfix package (Project-x-none.msp): December 15,
2009

Again, no luck.

Any ideas?

Hi ST,

You can try the following:

1) Determine SP level of MS Project Professional 2007 and make sure
you have the correct SP level

On client computer, Launch MS Project Professional 2007
Help menu > About Microsoft Office Project
Version number will be displayed (Example: SP1)


2) Remove any unwanted links from project plan

Open project plan having the issue
Tool menu -> Links Between Projects
Click the External Predecessors or External Successor tab
Click the link you want to remove
Click on "Delete Link"

3) Clear the local cache on client machine
