Project Pro connectivity issue

Hi,

I am having trouble using Project Professional from a remote machine.
Let me first point out that when I remote desktop onto the project
server, I can use Project Pro without any problems. However, when I am
on my remote machine, I get the following error:

Connection failed:
SQLState: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 53
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionOpen
(Connect()).
Connection failed:
SQLState: '08001'
SQL Server Error: 17
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist
or access denied.

So it appears that it can access the project server fine, but then
can't get to the DB server. I've tried many of the other suggestions
that I've seen, such as ensuring that both machines have the same MDAC
version (they do) and that TCP/IP is accepted by the database server.

Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what the problem might be?
Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Todd

Todd:

Project Pro connects through standard SQL port 1433. If you're connecting
across the Internet to even a lightly secured network, this port will not
likely be open. If it is open, and you're not logging into the domain that
you're connecting to, then the incorrect credentials will be passed. If
you're using Windows XP, you can work around the credentials issues by using
the manage passwords feature.

Gary - thanks for the reply. I thought that when using Project Pro,
that the project server would handle all communications with the SQL
Server, but that doesn't appear to be the case. (Why else would I be
able to use Project Pro on the project server box, but not when I am
connecting from another domain.) So does Project Pro need connectivity
to the SQL box as well?

Thanks very much!
Todd
