project resource pool

Hello;
i have a project resource pool that keeps loosing the links to the projects.
i am the only one with modify permissions to the resource pool.
can someone who opens the projects on their own computer, even though the
projects are read only and the resource pool is read only, corrupt the
resource pool.

if a user copies the project to their own computer, begin making changes to
the resources on their own workstation, are they able to manipulate the
Global Resource Pool whatsoever?

If someone is working on a project that they have copied down to their
workstation hard disk drive, and open it up in MS Project 2002 on their
workstation and begin making changes to the project, are they able to modify
the author of the project at all, it seems that I have seen people with
projects open up and then the same project that is on the server is a read
only folder except for my own account which has modify, has their name as
author.

Can you let me know what answers there are available or what resources I can
use to find out solutions to my problems?
