Project Schedule Publishing

C

Chas Eddingfield

We are having issues with the time that it takes to publish our project
schedules. Some schedules take hours to publish. There is no consistency on
the size of the schedule with how long it takes.

Has anyone else experienced publishing issues?

Does anyone monitor the publish process for how long it takes?

Is there any paper that says how long a schedule should take?

We need help!

Thanks,

Chas

Hi Chas,
Our schedules typically take between 4 to 7 seconds to publish, regardless
of the size. What you may want to check is your server performing as it
should, do you have enough available memory, are your databases monitored for
re-indexing regularly, and do you have other programs sitting on your
production server box that could be competing with EPMS? We also have found
that occasionally a copy of a project in the Local Cache gets corrupted and
for whatever reason delays the Save and Publish of the plan (but nothing to
the extent of hours) and the cache needs to be cleaned out periodically. I
hope this at least gives you some ideas of a path to start down.

Hopefully, other more experienced users can chime in with ideas for you.

This is a very strange behaviour. Do you have any queue errors or event log
errors on the servers?

This is a strange behavior. However, one thing you can try is the reindexing of the SQL databases. I have seen this help in the past.
