Project server 2003 and Share point portal server coexistance

Hi,
We have Installed sharepoint portal services 2003 on Windoes 2003
server. Afterwards we installed Project server 2003 withoutconfiguring
sharepoint services. withing 2/3 days project server services are
shutting down? Does any one experienced the same any work around/Help
appreciated..
