There was a thread here about this phenomena, I might add some
insight:
When you define a project level custom field of type duration in your
global template, you will not be able to see it in the project server
(although it seems ok in the project professional).
Why is that?
Microsoft has blocked this possiblity because of some strange bugs it
has in its database.
Do the following experiment:
Configure 'Enterprise Project Duration1' and 'Enterprise Project
Duration10'.
Create a new project, and insert the following values: 2d (two days)
into duration1, and 111 days into duration10.
In project professional it all seems fine. This is because the *real*
information is stored in a special place in the database.
However - the database that is exposed to the server / PDS extension /
other collaborating applications is corrupt:
check your project ID at MSP_PROJECTS
check the field ids for duration1 and duration10 (typically 188744569
and 188744578), and you will see that their values at
MSP_DURATOIN_FIELDS got messed up.
A related problem occurs for the flag fields as well (and guess what -
it isn't exposed at the server as well).
Does anyone know more about this issue?
Any ideas for a work around?
