Project Server 2003 Installation Error Msg

I get this message when trying to point to an existing SQL db during ms
project
server 2003 install

'You are attempting to connect to a Microsoft Project Central 2000 or
Microsoft Project Server 2002 database. Either update that database for use
with project server 2003, or connect to a different database'

the dba assure's me that the database was created correctly for Project
Server 2003
