Project Server 2003 Installation in SBS 2003 Domain

S

SMC

I want to install Microsoft Office Project Server 2003 on a Windows 2003
Server Standard Edition that is a member server in my SBS domain. I have MS
SQL
2000 Server Developer Edition installed on this server. This server is
currently used for Autodesk Vault and MS Live Communications server.

I'm running a Windows Small Business Server 2003 Premium Edition as my
domain controller. SBS includes Windows Sharepoint Services.

My question is, should I use the SBS Sharepoint Services or install
Sharepoint Services Standard Edition on the member server?

Thanks, MikeMc

Never install software you have never ever
installed on a "live" server. Period.
End of story. Stop!

Get a test server and restore your backup
onto the test server. I better not even
hear you say "What backup?"!!!

(This will also test to see if you backup
actually works! Remember though, it's
a different server name so fix any settings
accordingly...)

Now you can experiment with software
you never used or installed before.

Doing otherwise will *hose* your "live"
system.

As for SharePoint. You will be installing
stsv2.exe from microsoft.com.

You will install the second portion of
SharePoint from the MS Project Server
disk, not the SBS disk.

If you said "huh?", then you didn't read
the (albeit confusing) install manual
correctly.

Remember - there is no uninstall, you hose
the install, you hose the system, you need
to restart from "format c:", so practice
a lot...

Rick:

Stop telling people that there's no uninstall. It's simply inaccurate.
