Project Server 2003 Sample Database

Sherri

I recieved a "Service Pack 3 must be installed" error message when trying to
use the project server sample data config wizard. Service Pack 4 is
installed. Found the work around at
http:\\support.microsoft.com/kb/897767/EN-US. We do not have ready access to
the internet or the ability to download at the current site location, which
means I do not have access to the Site Editor Tool. I've manually set up a
new IIS virtual server. And followed the remaining directions at
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA011653681033.aspx. However,
when I attempt to access the site (ex: http://servername/sample) I recieve
http error 404. I'm new to MS products and was able to set up project server
without many difficulties. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sherri, I have some questions to understand better your scenario:

- Have you created the site for the sample using the EditSite tool?
- Have you apply any service pack to your native installation of Project
Server?
If the answer is yes, you must also apply the service pack (the sql
scripts executed through cmd) to the sample database you restored on SQL
Server.
- Have you installed Windows SharePoint Services in the same server as
Project Server?
If the answer is yes, you must verify that the virtual directory ys in
the excluded path in the Central Administration of Windows SharePoint
Services.

Hope this helps you.

Bye.

Hi Johathan,
Thanks for your response.
It took awhile to get approval for the EditSite tool. I've downloaded it
and used it according to kb897767. According to the EditSite tool
directions (823529), the Administrator password is set to blank. I've tried
logging in to project web access and received a 5005 error "invalid
username/password". I've also tried using the user names listed with
installing project server sample database instructions, but received the same
error.

What am I missing?

Thanks
oh I've also installed all service packs.
