Hi,

We are currently running Project Server 2003 and were about to install
SP1. Was just wondering if anyone had any issues during or after
installation?

Thanks

Several posts here reported problems after installing SP1. Some have overcome them and others have not.

After installing many of our resources were de-activated.
We re-activate them, but project keeps de-activating
them. We are still trying to figure this out.

When you installed Project Server Service Pack 1 did you also install
MS Project Pro 2003 SP 1? Can you install MS Project Pro 2003 SP1
without installing MS Project Server SP 1?

I'm interested in the answer to this same question.

A number of posts seem to imply that people are doing independent
installation of Project Pro SP1 and Project Server SP1.

However, an MS Tech I was speaking with (on another support issue with
MS Project 2003) stated very emphatically that SP1 *must* be installed
on the clients and server(s) at the same time.

The supporting docs for SP1 don't mention this. Given the difficulty
it would cause us - a small shop - to do the server and client
upgrades in sync, I can't imagine a company with hundreds of users
pulling this off easily.

That said, I installed Project Pro 2003 SP1 on a test client and was
able to hit our non-SP1 server with no apparent problems. I didn't
bang on it too much, though.

Jack:

Officially, MS says you can install the client first without the server, but
not the other way around. I strongly recommend doing both at the same time.

Gary,

We are continually adding new managers with access to plans on their
personal computers- by installing on the client first do you mean we should
install the service pack on their pcs before they access our server(that we
are installing service pack 1 on this weekend)??

Once you install SP1 on your server, every existing client computer should
have already been upgraded, and all new connecting computers should get SP1
version before being allowed to connect. Safest and best practice.
