Bill

Does anyone have experience creating a new site template?
If so... of the sharepoint modules within project server
(issues, risks, documents, portal site) which modules does
the template effect. The documentation on this area is
very limited

Bill:

What I have done so far with some, but not a lot success, is to edit a
default page of an existing site created by Project Server. We first
generated the libraries we would require and then modified which web parts
we wanted and where on the page they would be.

I edit with FP and do a save. Then I open the site in the explorer view
using web folders and copy the default.aspx to the web server location
\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\60\TEMPLATE\1033\PWA\default.aspx. Mt results were only half
successful. The Quick Launch bar retained my entries for the different lists
but the contents of the page failed to retain the web parts I wanted (not
custom ones but existing) or their positions. So like you - I hope somebody
else has a clue for us as I have my company anxiously awaiting this template
in order to setup our current manufacturing plans for 100 plus products.

Another item I tried is to take my modifications and save them as a template
through the site administration. I can reach the template if I create a site
manually but I don't have a clue as to how to make Project see this
template. Neither does anybody else I know at this point though I continue
to search.

GL and keep us posted!
