Project Server 2007 - Approving Tasks

Rachel

I'm having an issue with Project Server 2007. When I approve a task update
in PWA and/or Project Pro, I am unable to view the Preview screen and the
task progress (percent complete) is not updated in the Project.

Here is the detailed process:

1) Team member is assigned a task in Project Pro
2) Team member inputs actual hours worked in their Timesheet in PWA
3) Team member imports hours from their timesheet in the My Task page
4) Team member saves and submits task updates
5) Task update goes to Status Manager for approval
6) Status Manager goes to Task Updates and selects Preview to view how the
task will update the Project
7) A window pops up to preview the updated project, however the pop-up
screen is blank
8) Status Manager selects Close
9) Status Manager selects tasks and clicks Accept
10) Accepted tasks disappear from the Tasks Update screen, however the task
does not update the Project (the % Complete column remains at 0%)

The process is a little different if you want to approve task updates in
Project Pro, however the outcome is the same - the task is not updated in the
Project. I also tried entering hours (and % Complete) directly into the
Assignment Details Dialog box. The problem still occurred.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Rachel

Do you have Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed on WSS, Project Server 2007, and
Project Professional 2007? What you describe is one of the bugs fixed in
SP1. If you don't have it installed, now is the time! Let us know.

We did install SP1. However, after doing so we were unable to access the My
Task Page through PWA. We were also unable to build a team through PWA or
Project Pro. Our IT person spent hours and hours on the phone with Microsoft
trying to figure out how to resolve the issue. Finally, it was suggested that
we intall the software without SP1. Now we're having the task updates
problem. Any other suggestions?

Thanks for your help!

The suggestion from Microsoft Support that you install the software without
SP1 is absolutely ridiculous! GRRR! You need SP1 as it solves a whole host
of problems with the system. Are you certain that you installed SP1 for
WSS, Project Server 2007, and Project Professional 2007? If you don't
install the WSS SP1, that will cause lots and lots of problems, given the
fact that Project Server 2007 is built on WSS technology. Let us know.
