Hello,

I want to implement Project Server for web access to 50 users.

We already have MS Project 2007 installed on all PC's running XP operating
system.

I know I will need a Project Server License and 50 CAL, but what other costs
are involved?

Thank you.

Hi Flyingrat,

You'll need to make sure your Project version is Project 2007 Professional.
In addition to a Windows Server, you'll also need SQL Server and the relevant
SQL CALS, one CAL for each Pro user AND each web user.

Hi,

Do you mean to say you have installed MS Project Professional 2007in all the
50 workstations?

Note that each MS Project Professional licensed copy includes one Project
Server 2007 CAL. So check the no of Project Pro licenses you already have.

For the rest of infrastructure related costs, you first needs to decide the
level of deployment that is intended to be. It varies from Stand Alone to
Medium to Large Farm deployment.

I would suggest you to read the following articles for both infrastructure &

Thank you for your reply.

Do I need 50 CAL's for Project Server along with the 50 CAL's for SQL Server?

Thank you.

Hi,
We just implemented for about the same amount of users and we used one
server license for the projectserver 2007, 7 office project professional 2007
for the PM's and about 50 project web acces calls wich are considerably
lower in cost and are used by the people working in the projects.

The functional implementation whas our biggest expense, about 4 times the
costs of calls and servers... to have a good starting set up and everybody
learning the skill with at the same time implementing the work
procedures....it also took us the most time.
