hi,

first of all i would thanks all the members of this community because really
its an added value.

kindly i have two question, the first one is i gave a user project manager
group what are the categories i should give the project manager?

and this question is very important when you publish a project a project
workspace is being created automatically which is great but in the permssions
on the PW the team members have access because they have assigned taska but
also more users have access while they dont have tasks and those users are
Project managers and web administartors, how can i only give permssions on
the project workpsace only for the users who have tasks?

Regards,

Anas

We all know that there are a multitude of approaches to applying security
within Microsoft portfolio of products and Project Server 2007 is no
different. I find the best approach for managing security in PS2007 is to
ONLY:-

associate users with security groups
associate security groups with categories

I know it's possible to associate users with categories, but this often
leads to unecessary confusion.

The effective use of categories is highly dependant on the RBS you have
deployed. Whilst it is possible to deploy PS2007 without defining an RBS the
options around defined security boundaries (categories) is severly limited.

The answers to your questions depend on how you have implemented the RBS and
what if any changes you have made to your categories.

drop me an email [email protected] and I'll send you the
powerpoint presentation from the seattle project conference on this subject
which I delivered last year.
