Project Server and Project Standard

Veronica

I have the filename.mpp and a Global.mpt with customized
toolbars (used macros) that runs using Project 98 on NT.
I upgraded to XP and Project 2002 and when I try to run
the .mpp file, the toolbars (contained in the Global.mpt)
do not load. I understand that Project 2002 will
install a new global mpt which can overwrite the existing
global.mpt, hence, I might have to recreate the toolbars.
However, I am wondering if the reason why the Global.mpt
is not loading is because I have MS Project Server 2002
vs. just having Project Standard.

Any light on this will help!

Hi,

With Project Professional, if you are connected to Project Server than the
Enterprise Global has precedence. This does force users into using
enterprise wide views etc. However, if you are not connected to Project
Server then the local Global.Mpt file should work as usual.

The upgraded behavior will vary depending on how Project 2002 was installed.
Install will detect any previous versions of Project and offer to upgrade
and import from the old .mpt file. If you decline this, then none of the
toolbars in the old Global.Mpt file will port across.
