Project server and Sharepoint 2007 SP1

Dots

Has anyone had any issues updating Project Server and Sharepoint 2007 to SP1?
I am preparing to perform this upgrade but need to know of issues
encountered.

Thanks, Dots.

Ensure the account running the SSP and windows services has access to the
Internet for the duration of the install, as it requires to pull down a cert
from MSFT.

WWW access can be removed once applied.

ActiveX controls are refreshed and need to be downloaded again. If you
deploy these to client machines seperately, you'll have to consider this in
the upgrade progress.

Hi Dots,

I have also encountered that the SSP Service account may even need admin
rights for the duration of the installation. Eventhought the service account
had internet access I still received an error message, only after i gave the
service account local admin rights it worked.

Best of luck

Aside from the installation/upgrade directions up on the MS website, do
either of you have a more straightforward install procedure that you can
direct me to? I would appreciate that!

Thanks,
Dots

Thanks Marc. I will look at this link and let you know how it goes :)

Am I required to install SP1 on Moss, or can I just install SP1 on Project
server 2007 without corrupting my environment?

Hi Guys,

I just wondered about the internet requirement for the SSP account - is this
a serious requirement? I'm just thinking that I have at least 2 customers
where the servers just do not have Internet access - by design mostly...Do
you guys perhaps have any ideas on how i would get past this?

thanks,
Nico

Hi Dots,

Actually, Project Server SP1 is actuall Office Server SP1. That means if you
have Project Server installed in a MOSS environment it will automatically
also install the SP1 for MOSS. In actual fact the SP1 is MOSS, Project
Server, Forms Server, Excel Services in 1 Service Pack, which makes
deployment very easy. That was a great idea from Microsoft. If you wonder how
it works, SP1 essentially checks what you have installed and only installs
the components you require. ( Pretty smart ).

Hope this helps
