Project Server Benefits & Cost

I am evaluating the benefits & cost of switching from MPP Standard 2003 to a
2007 based solution using Project Server, Web Access & MPP 2007 Professional.

One of the main reasons we are looking to do this is to allow individual
resources to update timesheets directly via a web interface which will then
feed into the underlying project plans (which I believe is only possible by
switching to a Project Server solution - is this correct?)

I am just trying to gauge exactly what components I would need and the
likely cost of going down this route.

In terms of size, there are currently 5-8 project managers each using
Project2003 Standard, with approx 60 resources total split across the
different projects. I am assuming that I would need:
- 1xProject Server
- 8xProject 2007 Professional (for each of the project managers)
- 60 or so CAL licenses

Does this look correct? What would be the approx cost of such a set-up?

Thanks for your help,
John.

Hi John,
Your assumption about updates via web access is correct.

Your Project Server CAL requirements would be reduced to 52 as Project Pro
includes a CAL.

Don't forget you will need 60 SQL CALs too (you may already have these), and
a SQL Server licence (and Windows server...)

I can't quote you licence prices, (check with a LAR), but budget for
configuration and training. It is worth checking out the Project Server
partners in your area. Some systems are more complex to implement than
others...
