Project Server Connection Problem - Strange Behavior

B

I'm currently seeing some very strange behavior from a desktop running
Project Professional 2003 when trying to connect to Project Server.
Specifically, when selecting a PS Account [manual connection] with Windows
Authentication defined Project seems to try to connect to Project
Server...but hangs at the 'Project Server Security Logon' screen during the
connection. However, if I select the 'Cancel' button and then select the
'Connect' button again the connection opens just fine and Project Server is
accessible.

Any ideas? I've used the Project Server 2003 environment quite a bit over
the past four months and have never seen this problem before.

Has anyone found some resolution to this?

There are several coworkers that are having this problem consistently, while
I am not. I think all the users having trouble may be on Windows XP, while I
am using Windows 2000
Thanks

Bill,

I have been working with Jason Lu on this issue but have not been provided a
resolution yet. I believe that the next steps that I will need to complete
are to send Jason an extract of the Application Log from the server (per his
request). Hopefully Jason or some other resource will be able to resolve
this issue in the near future.

Interesting to note is that the machine that I am having problems on is a
Windows 2000 machine and not XP!

What version of MDAC is installed on these machines?

FYI -

I've used the Component Checker [cc.exe] and verified that the MDAC
components are at 2.8 RTM, which is where I thought they were.

There are no related errors in any of the logs in event viewer on the client
machine or the server.

Did you solve this problem yet? We experienced this same scenario after we
installed McAfee 8.0. We determined that we needed to unregister the
following dll:

C:\Program Files\Network Associates\VirusScan\scriptproxy.dll
