Project Server Cube Build Issue

I think I screwed up the install order on the SQL DMO components. According
to MSDN:

" At this time, do not use the feature packs for SQL Server 2008 to install
and download these components, as those files will not allow you to build
cubes in SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services with Project Server 2007."

However, I didn't read that carefully enough and installed the Microsoft SQL
Server 2008 Management Objects Collection instead of the 2005 version. Now I
can't install the 2005 version even if I uninstall the 2008 version. The
setup fails with the "higher version already exists" error message.

When I try to build the cube I get the "Failed to connect to the Analysis
Services server myserver. Error: ActiveX component can't create object". In
the help it says that this means the correct version of the management
objects doesn't exist.

Is there anything I can do to fix this issue?

Have you tried rebooting the system after the uninstall and before
attempting to install the earlier version? If so, there may be some shared
components that are preventing you from going backwards. For this type of
problem, a service call to Microsoft might be your best bet.

I was able to get this fixed by uninstalling the Reporting Services add-in
which had installed the "higher version" of the DMO objects. This higher
version seems to break the cube processing. Not sure if there is a fix for
this and I'm not ready to try installing the add-in again yet since my cube
is now building.

Thanks!

Yes, I tried that. Turns out it was a different install that was the issue as
I posted below. Thanks!
