Project Server Insanely Slow

I am running Project Server 2003. Saving and updating projects can take
anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes per project in project pro.

I believe this is not due to server performance because during our recent
reconfiguration I was the only one working in the system and it ran
beautifully. Now that everyone in our department is accessing pwa, I am
assuming there is some configuation that drags it down.

A little background: We have approximatly 200 projects we are working on
currently. (Total projects in the system is around 2000). There about 20
resources. The project plans are very simple with about 20 tasks. As you can
see with ratio of resources to projects, a single resource could be assigned
and working on around 20 or more projects at one time.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

try tweaking the Serversetting=>WorkspaceProvisioningSettings

this may give you performance enchancements..and also check queue setting

Slowness in Project Server 2003 is generally due to latency on the LAN -
anything over 20ms is considered too much.

You can do a very simple latency check by doing a PING test.
Also, its worth checking project server for CPU, disk and memory utilisation.

There is a smoke test tool for PS2003 that you might want to use to baseline
the system.
